As a chronic migraine sufferer, my doctor referred me to La Clef du Sommeil for an assessment. I was greeted with kindness and courtesy. When I met the technicians (respiratory therapists), I immediately felt understood and confident about my situation. Their patience with me was exemplary. Despite my great difficulty in adapting to wearing a mask, I was always greeted with a smile, because their only concern was my well-being and comfort. Since then, I’ve almost stopped taking Triptan, and for me, that’s quite a success. <\/p>

Following my doctor’s diagnosis that I had a sleep apnea problem, he referred me to your clinic. During my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the time you devoted to me, your professionalism and your willingness to help me improve my quality of life. <\/p>

I was more or less aware of the symptoms, but following your questions I really realized that I had a big problem and that my quality of life had diminished a lot over the last few years.<\/p>

Now I use a device. At first, I had difficulty, which was normal, but now, after 3 months of use, I’m starting to see the benefits, and so is my wife. I can tell you that I can’t tell you too much during the follow-ups, because with my device’s memory card, \u00c9velyne tells you everything. Surprisingly… <\/p>

I’d like to stress that now that I know, I’m not ashamed to talk about it, I sleep well and so does the world around me. I’ve always been what you’d call a \u201cgood snorer\u201d, but as I entered my fifties, the phenomenon amplified to the point where my spouse was forced to leave the \u201cconjugal\u201d bedroom for quieter climes.<\/p>

In recent years, I began to experience more acute symptoms such as chronic fatigue (waking up in the morning with a feeling of not being rested), the need for afternoon naps, loss of alertness at the wheel and even memory difficulties.<\/p>

After discussing it with my family doctor, I underwent tests for my heart and lungs, as well as the sleep apnea test, all in hospital.<\/p>

I was finally diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. To obtain the appropriate treatment, I first had to see a pneumologist, and it was at this stage that I realized how overburdened the Quebec healthcare system was. <\/p>

After six months on a waiting list, my doctor suggested I go to a private clinic, and that’s how I discovered the \u201cClef du Sommeil\u201d.<\/p>

Surprisingly, I got an appointment the very next week (May 2010). I immediately felt at ease with the clinic’s professionals and decided to repeat the apnea test in the on-site laboratory to validate the results obtained during the first test. <\/p>

This new test confirmed the diagnosis of severe apnea, and I was able to quickly obtain the CPAP my condition required. The more precise results of the 2nd test made it possible to calibrate the CPAP to my specific needs. <\/p>

I got the device at the beginning of July. I have to say that adjusting to sleeping plugged in wasn’t an overnight process. The first few nights were not very successful; I couldn’t tolerate the machine for more than an hour or two. I’d say the adaptation took place gradually, over a period of six to eight weeks, before I felt perfectly at ease and slept comfortably. <\/p>

Once I got used to it, I quickly noticed a steady improvement in my condition. The feeling of chronic fatigue disappeared after three or four months. I no longer need to take a nap, and I’m no longer a danger on the road. My memory has even improved. <\/p>

In short, I can testify to the quality of the services I have received at \u201cLa Clef du Sommeil\u201d and the tangible results I have seen in improving my physical condition and quality of life since I started using CPAP.<\/p>
