Laboratory Studies

OUR LABORATORY TESTS ARE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE.

La Clef du Sommeil offers laboratory testing. Polysomnography (or sleep polygraphy) is a medical test that involves recording several physiological variables (respiratory rate, heart rate, electroencephalogram, electromyogram of the arm or leg muscles, etc.) to identify certain sleep-related disorders, including apnea and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS).

Polysomnography

This test is conducted in the lab with our technician, who analyzes your sleep patterns.

According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, polysomnography (PSG) is the gold standard test for evaluating sleep disorders. PSG helps confirm the diagnosis of a sleep disorder, identify any associated conditions, and guide treatment decisions.

PSG is performed based on a medical prescription issued by a physician who is a member of the Collège des médecins du Québec or by a dentist who is a member of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec.

Manual Titration

This test is used to determine the pressure setting required for the patient’s CPAP machine. The test is conducted in real time by a polysomnography technician.

A Divided Night

This study includes polysomnography and manual titration, with monitoring by a technician.

Screening Tests

At our four locations, we offer screening tests and a consultation with a certified respiratory therapist to help us fully understand your needs. Screening tests are performed at the clinic, and fees apply.

In addition, you can undergo a laboratory test to assess your sleep and identify any disorders that may be preventing you from getting the most out of your sleep. During this test, the person simply sleeps. Their sleep is analyzed and closely monitored using various measuring instruments and through observation. To do this, the client must spend a full night at our Saint-Alphonse-de-Granby location (headquarters). This is a very informative experience, as it clearly identifies the presence of one or more sleep disorders and their nature.
