La Clef du sommeil offers laboratory studies. Polysomnography (or sleep polygraphy) is a medical examination in which several physiological variables are recorded during the patient’s sleep (respiratory rate, heart rate, electroencephalogram, electromyogram of arm or leg muscles, etc.) to determine certain sleep-related disorders, including apnea or obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA).
This test takes place in the laboratory with our technician, who analyzes your night.
According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Polysomnography (PSG) is the gold standard for the study of sleep disorders. PSG can be used to confirm the diagnosis of a sleep disorder, recognize associated pathology and guide therapeutic decisions.
PSG is performed with a medical prescription issued by a physician who is a member of the Collège des médecins du Québec or by a dentist who is a member of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec.
This study is used to determine the required pressure to be adjusted on the patient’s CPAP machine. This study is performed in real time by the Polysomnography technician.
This study includes Polysomnography, manual titration and follow-up by a technician.
In our four branches, we offer screening tests and a meeting with a certified respiratory therapist to determine your needs. Screening tests are performed in the clinic, and fees apply.
It is also possible to undergo a laboratory test to qualify your sleep and detect any disorders preventing you from getting the most out of your sleep. During this test, the person simply sleeps. Their sleep is analyzed and scrutinized using various measuring instruments and observation. To do this, the customer must spend a full night at our Saint-Alphonse-de-Granby branch (head office). It’s a highly instructive experience, as it provides a clear indication of the presence and nature of one or more sleep disorders.
