Laboratory studies

La Clef du sommeil offers a range of laboratory studies. Polysomnography is a medical examination that consists of recording several physiological variables (respiratory rate, heart rate, electroencephalogram, electromyogram of the muscles of the arms or legs, etc.) while the patient sleeps to diagnose certain sleep disorders like apnea or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Polysomnography

The test takes place in a laboratory with help from our technician who analyzes your night.

According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine polysomnography (PSG) is the gold standard test for evaluating sleep disorders. PSG enables us to confirm the diagnosis of a sleep disorder, recognize any associated conditions and guides our therapeutic decision-making.

PSG is performed based on a prescription issued by doctors that are part of the Collège des médecins du Québec or dentists that are part of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec.

Manual setting

This study is used to determine the pressure settings for the patient’s CPAP machine. This study is done in real time by the Polysomnography technician.

Divided night study

This study includes polysomnography and manual setting of the machine, as well as follow-up by a technician.
