Spirometry

Spirometry is a simple breathing test that is used in the diagnosis of various chronic respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis and asthma.

Spirometry can also:

  • Check the current health of your lungs;
  • Determine the root cause of breathlessness (by contributing to the diagnosis);
  • Check the effectiveness of your pulmonary medication;
  • Monitor and check your respiratory health;
  • Monitor the progression of respiratory disease.

Do you need more reasons to take the spirometry test? Here are just a few.

  • You are a smoker or ex-smoker;
  • You cough regularly;
  • You are out of breath even when doing simple tasks;
  • Your wheeze during exercise or at night;
  • You often get colds that last longer than for other people.

If the parameters measured during the spirometry test abnormal, more in-depth investigation may be required.

A respiratory therapist at your company.

The spirometry test can be performed at our clinics by appointment.
We also have a service where our respiratory therapist comes to your premises.

It should be noted that chemicals, dust particles or insufficient oxygen are health risks for workers. As an employer, you are responsible for eliminating exposure to these risks as much as possible.

With this in mind, making protective gear mandatory for employees is not enough. Comprehensive protection also requires an assessment of lung health with the help of a respiratory function test.

It is also vital to check the efficacy of the protective equipment used.
